Indian food across the globe
There are certain foods that I simply enjoy more in a restaurant. Italian for example, the warm bread, Italian table wine and variety of pastas always makes it worth the money. Another type of food I enjoy more eating out– Indian. It’s the sides that make Indian meals so special – samosas, bhajis, lassis, soups and the all important naan. In every city I have lived, there has been one Indian restaurant that my husband and I frequent.
Moti
Address: 6-2-35 Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan

This was the first Indian restaurant I enjoyed. It is where I fell in love with butter chicken and sweet lassis. The atmosphere is elegant, the service impeccable and the price is mid-range (for Tokyo at least). Best thing on the menu – butter chicken.
Curry in a Hurry
Address: 119 Lexington Ave, New York City (At 28th St)

We used to live across the street from this chaotic and smelly curry house. It is not somewhere you want to eat in but their take-out is scrumptious. The take- out counter on the first level is fast, cheap and always tasty. Best thing on the menu – samosas.
Taj Mahal
Address: 5175 South St, Halifax, NS
Phone: 902-492-8251
Again, we were lucky enough to live across the street from an awesome Indian restaurant. To be completely honest, we never ate at this restaurant we only got take-out. During the few years we lived in Halifax I was learning how to cook and working on perfecting my own curry recipes. We utilized the Taj Mahal to get all of the fixings we needed to accompany my curries and all of them were tasty. Best thing the menu – naan.
North of Bombay
Address: 2996 Dundas Street West. Toronto, ON
Phone: 416-604-4598
This little restaurant was introduced to us by my brother. He and his wife ordered from them at least once a week. After one meal, we too were hooked. Onion bhajis, chicken vindaloo, mulligatawny soup, vegetable briyani, lamb curry – everything is fantastic. The venue is clean, quaint and cool in the hot summer months. You can eat-in, order ahead for take-out, or even call for delivery if you live in the High Park area. The price is mid-range and the menu extensive. Best thing the menu – everything.
