Wines from Argentina

 

Nothing complements an Asado feast better than a glass of Argentine Malbec. Argentina is the world’s sixth largest wine producer. The wine growing regions of Argentina span from Salta in the north, through Mendoza, right down to the Rio Negro Valley. The Mendoza region is by far the most successful, producing over 80% of the total wine.

Argentine wines are made from grapes such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Bonarda, Barbera, Torrontés and Malbec. In fact, grapes grow so well in Argentina, that not only wine, but also grape juice, has become a huge export for the nation.

Argentina’s Malbec steals the show with its deep, ripe, juicy flavors ideal for red meat and chocolate dishes. Originating in Southwestern France, this Bordeaux variety grows beautifully in the Mendoza region and produces many of Argentina’s best wines. Torrontés is Argentina's best white variety creating a fresh, fruity and elegant white wine. Torrontés is easy to drink and enjoyed at many tertulias (social gatherings).
